Make a difference: Zero waste effort

The picture of an ice bear on the last small piece of floating ice in the ocean, might be something we can block out and pretend it isn’t real, but we all know that our earth is in trouble and that this is our last warning to turn the tide. But how come that people just stubbornly refuse to do so, although they have children, grandchildren and wish them all the best…. A world to live in, clean air and water seems to be the most important gift one can give to one’s children so I’m trying to make every effort to make a difference on my way to going zero waste!

Jewelry hangers made out of original French wine boxes

And here they are: the first of many to come, in different sizes and different looks: our handmade wooden jewelry hangers made out of original French wine boxes. Unique handcrafted pieces, each of them one of a kind, clear varnished so the original wood colour shines through. Two holes were made to screw them to your wall, a secure way to hang the board. Some of them printed, others really branded with loads of local history.

WWI 18pounder Field Artillery fired empty shell case

Look at these gems of my latest treasure hunt for the Woohoocuties’ shop: a beautiful double inkwell, a bundle of vintage keys and empty WWI war shell cases and one of them real trench art! I can imagine, certainly with the shell cases that non- military people have no idea what a wonderful story the markings at the bottom tell! So I thought I’d better write about them so that in case you buy one, you know what to look for.

Soon jewelry holders in the Woo Hoo Cuties’ shop

1jewelhangerJewelry is the perfect accent piece for an otherwise dull outfit. I like to put my necklaces and earrings away relatively neatly, otherwise they always end up a big tangled. I was always looking for ways to store my jewelry, till recently. My husband surprised me with a homemade gift: a wooden jewelry holder, and I just loved it. So we decided to let you all share the joy, we’re going to make some more and put them in the Woohoocuties’ shop!

Mine is hanging in the bedroom on the wall, next to the bed, ever so easy to just tuck my jewelry away before getting under the covers. The bedroom stays my place to go to rest and relax and needs to be free of the jumbled, knotted mess atop my dresser.

This wooden gem will look amazing against any wall, on mine I just showcase my jewelry and keep them on display at all times. Forget about stashing your jewelry away in some boring box, show off with what you have and use it as deco. It’s just a shame to tuck all your lovelies away!

From now on no, more messy, entangled necklaces and bracelets, or lost earrings, use these cute and functional wooden, homemade, unique boards. No more spending valuable time searching through your jewelry for the perfect necklace, in the morning, your dainty necklaces will now be organized. They’re worth taking mindful care off, whether it was a romantic gift or one you inherited, a valuable heirloom!

This is one in the make (without the brass hooks), made out of a wooden wine box:

Looking for an original gift for a birthday or housewarming party, or starting to fill up your box with possible Christmas presents to avoid the hunt at the end of the year? This might be the item for you!

Because your jewelry is special, don’t stash it away in a box where you can’t look at it! It’s another way to make a statement with your jewelry and could be the start of a fine collection… You no longer need to relegate your necklaces or earrings to the jewelry box, you can ditch it and keep your bling untangled with this brilliant storage solution.

I hope you’re as exited as I am and now you even can buy some more “pleasures” to own, knowing they’re a delight to wear and will pose no dilemma figuring out how to store them or show them off in all their glory. Ready to revamp your outfit?

Clutter free and organized

Ps: Soon to be found in the Woohoocuties’ shop, don’t forget to check regularly as this weekend loads of vintage buttons will pop up on there as well, I found several cuties in my gran’s sewing box, as vintage as can be!

Choosing presents for every age

This year not being able to do extended shopping for Christmas presents, I had to rely on the Internet to order some of my presents. I bought loads of presents during the year on auctions for good causes, as I wrote before, but in the end you realize how much more you need and then with an ill husband, there is no way you can go shopping, so instead I spend hours on the Internet searching, to choose the right presents for every age. Capture the living moments with this vintage double inkwell set

We should celebrate every birthday we’re given, and today it’s mine, always going hand in hand with the end of the year celebrations and welcoming 2016 ahead. Finding this magnificent vintage double inkwell set, I thought what better moment than today, to decide to start keeping a diary filled with things I’m thankful for, indeed confiding the rough gems of my own mind to a gratitude diary. I wish to be more in tune with the good things in my life and want to be fully aware of the best things that happen to me on every special day. What a wonderful way to record life and memories. Vintage Christmas with a blue china Broadhurst Ironstone jug

With Christmas on our doorstep, we all start thinking about our table décor, how to make our table sparkle, whether it’s a formal or relaxed dinner. For my parents the only way to set a table was with matching sets of dishes or china. Nowadays dreaming of vintage table settings at your rustic, nostalgic or just cosy parties, wedding reception, baby shower… setting the table with your vintage collections, is considered as “the” creative outlet! And who can resist designing a culinary stage including this blue china Broadhurst Ironstone lovely creamer or jug, with its blue pattern on white background, decorated with flowers and “The English scene”.

December means Christmas a month with just that little bit more

All I want for the December month, Christmas and New Year is to create a memorable holiday with just that little bit more precious time with family and friends! Of course with sunny days, around 18 degrees during the day here in the South of France, it doesn’t really add to the Christmas atmosphere. But to me these days are special, so preparing for them means joyful moments. It’s all about alleviating stress.
